Painting snow on location

This painting was done in front of my home on a snowy evening.  I painted it with acrylic but when I took it inside it melted! Snow had mixed with my paint creating a lovely thick medium.  I thought it was ruined when I saw the drips but some sections actually looked beautiful.  I touched up the car but left the raw drips on lower right of painting,

Press Release for Thanksgiving Show

Press Release
“OPEN ROADS”
Recent Paintings by Lynn Lewis

Local artist and Montgomery County Public School Art Teacher Lynn Lewis will present her current paintings of roadside images and more at the Yellow Barn Gallery, Glen Echo Park, MD on November 25, 26, 27, 2011.

Lynn Lewis’ paintings are acrylic and watercolor drive-by impressions of views from rural roads and highways in Maryland, DC, Ohio, and New England.  Her work reflects her interest in drawing the landscape while moving through it.  Her paintings are created by combining compositions from her sketches and snapshots.  Some of her watercolors are painted from photographs she took moving through water while swimming in the ‘Great Chesapeake Bay Swim’.

The Gallery is open Friday from 12:00 - 5:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 - 6:00pm, and Sunday from 12:00 - 5:00pm.  A reception with the artist is scheduled for 6:00 - 8:00pm, Saturday, November 26, in the gallery.  All events are open to the public.  For more information on this show or other events sponsored by the Yellow Barn Gallery, please call 301-371-5593.   For more information on the artist, please go to www.lmlart.blogspot.com.  This exhibit is made possible in cooperation with the National Park Service.
